Any particular reason for choosing this book?

Morgan: I have read the first two Penderwick books which I absolutely LOVED and when I saw that there was a fourth, I was super excited!

Gable: I have read the rest in the Penderwick series. This is the last one in the series.

Morgan: Comedy/Children’s Literature

Gable: Family/Romance/Comedy

Who was your favorite character and why?

Morgan: Skye, because she was always trying to do the right thing.

Gable: Aunt Claire because she was funny and gave the best advice.

Who was your least favorite character and why?

Morgan: Jane, because she was completely ridiculous!

Gable: Dexter because he was a jerk.

Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while?  Was it worth the wait?

Morgan: It instantly pulled me in, and whenever I sat down to read it I was instantly immersed in the story.

Gable: I got into it immediately but when I first started it, I sort of didn’t want to read it because I knew it was the last one in the series. In the middle, it was all over the shop and sort of lame and confusing and lots of unnecessary parts.

Was it plot or character driven?

Morgan: Both, but probably a little more character driven.

What did you think of the ending?

Morgan: Extremely bittersweet.

Gable: The fourth most bittersweet ending I’ve ever read.

What was the moral of the story?

Morgan: All that matters is if you come from things from a place of love.

Did you learn anything?

Morgan: That a metal golf club is actually called a “wood.”

Gable: The best way to toast marshmallows.

Favorite quote:

Batty: “Hamish is always kissing people.”
Jane: “You mean like you?”
Batty: “Not me. I run faster than him.”

Gable: “Yes, you can because you have to. Just focus and be patient and you’ll be alright.” – Aunt Claire.

What would you change?

Gable: I would make it less all over the shop and more exciting in the middle and towards the end and I’d take out all the injuries.

Would you read it again?

Morgan: I totally would, if only I didn’t remember it. If you get what I mean.

Gable: Yes. Maybe that way it would make more sense in the middle.

Have you read other books in the series?

Morgan: Yes. I am OBSESSED!

Gable: Yes. The first one was probably the best.

Soundtrack: Listen to the songs mentioned in the book on Spotify or Rdio

Who would you recommend it to?

Morgan: Fans of the first two Penderwick books, twelve-year-old girls who have fallen in love, or older siblings.

Gable: People who like their books to go up and down in excitement.

Number of unknown words:

Morgan: 15

Gable: 19
