A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff
Write 6 words you would put on this book if it were in the “Blind Date With A Book” shelf. Cakes. Talents. Peanut butter. Suitcases. Orphans. Adventures.
Any particular reason for choosing this book? I read the review on Amazon, not long ago and it sounded like a very interesting book to me, so I added it to my list, and I must say, it was interesting!
Genre: Mystery/Children’s Literature
What did you think of the cover art? It’s confusing that the person in the hot-air balloon on the cover has blonde hair and is female, because there was not a single person in the book that had that description.
Who was your favorite character and why? It would probably be Miss. Mallory because she was kind and probably the only decent person –except from Cady– in the entire book. Although, the Man-in-the-Grey-Suit did give some good advice.
Who was your least favorite character and why? The Owner because he was greedy.
Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while? Grabbed me almost immediately and it had me the entire way through (especially at the end).
Was it plot or character driven? I would say more character driven.
What did you think of the ending? It was perfect.
What was the moral of the story? Everyone has a talent. Use your talent for good, not bad.
Favorite quote: “It’s the way we deal with what Fate hands us that defines who we are.” –The Man in the Grey Suit.
What would you change? Nothing. It was so perfect and so unique, that if you changed it even one little bit, it wouldn’t be at all that good.
Who would you recommend it to? People who like their books with unique characters, a unique format and plot and lots of cake recipes!
Number of unknown words: 5
Recipe: My favorite recipe was Will’s S’more Cake, but you can find all the cake recipes in the book on Lisa Graff’s website.
How do you use your talent?
