Genre: Suspense/Children’s Literature

Who was your favorite character and why? Zach, because I could relate to him.

Who was your least favorite character and why? Zach’s dad, because he was really mean.

Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while? Was it worth the wait? Took a short while for me to really get into it, but it was definitely worth it!

Was it plot or character driven? More character driven.

What did you think of the ending? I felt like there could be sequel, but the ending was okay.

What was the moral of the story? It’s okay to be honest and growing up doesn’t have to be as scary as you think.

Favorite quote: “Everyone has a story. Everyone is the hero of their story.” –
Alice

What would you change? The typo on page 102, even though it was pretty hilarious!

Have you read other books by the same author? Holly Black also wrote the “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” which I have read a long time ago.

Who would you recommend it to? Those who are intrigued by ghosts or creepy dolls and especially kids aged around 11 or 12 (even though it says 9+) who are afraid to leave childhood behind.

Number of unknown words: 17

Recipe: Wedges with Chili

What do you miss about childhood the most?
