Any particular reason for choosing this book?

Morgan: Gable had suggested this particular book to me because it had a lot of stuff that I could probably relate to, but she said I had to read the whole series in order for it to make more sense. Check out my reviews of the previous books in the series.

Genre:

Gable: Children’s/Action

Morgan: Fantasy/Action/Children’s

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gable: Nightlight because I could relate to him the most and because he was smart and would do anything if it made his best friends happy.

Morgan: Katherine, because she saw the bright side of all things; evil or not.

Who was your least favorite character and why?

Gable: Pitch, obviously, because he was evil but evil hardly begins to explain how mean he was.

Morgan: Pitch, because he was hateful and evil.

Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while?

Gable: At first it was a calm and happy book. But then it got more intense and the chapters also got shorter.

Morgan: I must say that this is my favorite book in the Guardian series because it has so much action, even from the start.

Was it plot or character driven?

Morgan: A bit of both.

What did you think of the ending?

Gable: Unexpected and very strange with the possibility of there being another book.

Morgan: It left me hanging I can’t wait for the next book!

What was the moral of the story?

Gable: If you ever think all is lost, there is always your friends and family.

Morgan: Even though there is evil, you must try to see the bright side of things and try to understand where everyone is coming from: evil or not.

Favorite quote:

Gable & Morgan: “We have what we need. Brave hearts and sharp minds. And as you might recall, we always abandon our plans and do something better than we had imagined.” – Ombric

Have you read other books in the series?

Gable: Yes, I have read Nicholas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare King and E. Aster Bunnymund and the Warrior Eggs at the Earth’s Core! Check out the reviews here. The next book in the series is based on the film, Rise of The Guardians, which I have watched and enjoyed very much.

Have you read other books by the same author?

Gable: William Joyce, as it says in the back, won an Academy Award for the animated short film The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, which is based on the picture book of the same name. I watched that short film and loved it. So, in a way, I have.

Who would you recommend it to?

Gable: Children who enjoyed The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore or the other books in the series, orphans, and tweens who love their books intense but with lots of fantasy.

Morgan: Those who have read the previous books in the series or those who like animals, those who like the tooth-fairy, or children who have lost their parents when they were very young.
