Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy
Describe it in 25 words or less.
Pete: A male news reporter’s job is challenged by a female in the chauvinistic 1970’s.
Brigette: A man must adjust to changing times in his workplace.
Any particular reason for choosing this film?
Pete: I’m a huge Will Ferrell fan.
Brigette: We missed this film when it first came out and really wanted to see Anchorman 2 but figured we’d be remiss not seeing this one first.
Pete & Brigette: Comedy
Who was your favorite character and why?
Pete: Ron Burgundy because just about every time he spoke I laughed.
Brigette: Brick because I just love characters who are a little off but genuinely good-hearted.
Who was your least favorite character and why?
Pete: Public News Anchor (played by Tim Robbins), because of his sneaky tactics.
Brigette: Champ because he confused me.
How was the casting?
Pete: Amazing: the cast of cameos is one of the best.
Brigette: I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Will Ferrell. There are some films where his style of comedy really irks me, but there are ones like this one when I find him really funny. I think the other cast members make a big difference. This was one of the best comedic casts I’ve seen in a while.
Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while?
Pete: IMMEDIATELY; and I laughed my way through the entire film.
Brigette: It had me at Bill Kurtis’s narration. It was a great mix of silly and entertaining.
Pete: “I immediately regret this decision!” – Ron
Brigette: “We’ve been coming to the same party for twelve years now, and in no way is that depressing.” – Ron
Is it part of a series and have you seen the rest of the series?
Pete: The filmmakers compiled so many extra scenes and sub-plots that a second film entitled Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie (2004) (V) was edited together and included in the 2-disc Anchorman: Special Edition.
We plan on watching Anchorman 2 very soon.
How was the soundtrack?
Brigette: Very funky indeed. We’ve put the music from the film on Spotify, Grooveshark and Rdio. And for a very special treat, we’ve included the jazz flute scene and the Afternoon Delight music video!
Would you watch it again?
Brigette: Yes, I would watch this whenever I needed a good laugh.
How was the ending?
Pete: It put a smile on your face, the lead up was intense and hilarious.
Brigette: A little cheesily happy.
What was the moral of the story?
Pete: Always be prepared for change.
Brigette: Sometimes unwelcome change brings unexpected rewards.
Who would you recommend it to?
Pete: Fans of parody films and quality comedy from Will Ferrell.
Brigette: Anyone who likes their comedies super silly.
