Goldfinger by Ian Fleming
Write 6 words you would put on this book if it were in the “Blind Date With A Book” shelf. James Bond, canasta, golf, Fort Knox, addiction, corruption
Any particular reason for choosing this book? I’m reading the entire series in sequence.
Genre: Spy Thriller
What did you think of the cover art? I had the boring 2006 UK version.
Who was your favorite character and why? Pussy Galore because she was the most mysterious.
Who was your least favorite character and why? Goldfinger because he was extremely evil and greedy.
Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while? Once again Fleming grabbed my interest early and only increased intensity throughout.
Was it plot or character driven? Another beautiful balance of both.
What did you think of the ending? Intense with a twist; I loved it.
What was the moral of the story? Greed will not gain you any true friends.
Favorite quote: “We all think our own secrets are the only ones that matter, other people’s secrets are never quite as important as one’s own.” – James Bond.
How does the book compare to the film? The film varies considerably from the book but I can’t decide which one I prefer.
Obviously: It’s from the film but it was playing in my head whilst reading:
Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey
Who would you recommend it to? James Bond fans and anyone who enjoys golf.
