Pete Reviews Sin City

Sin City (The Complete Series: 7 volumes) by Frank Miller

Describe it in 25 words or less. An amazing graphic novel executed in a gripping high-contrast depicting the underbelly of life of crime and chaos in a seedy city.

Any particular reason for choosing this book? I wanted to read the entire series after watching the film over a year ago.

Genre: Graphic Novel

What did you think of the cover art? The covers were just as amazing as all the artwork inside. There is something totally fascinating in the simplicity of the compositions. Frank Miller is amazing!

Who was your favorite character and why? Marv because of his honesty and courage.

Who was your least favorite character and why? Senator Roark because he reminded me of real-life Senator Joe Hockey.

Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while? It grabbed me immediately, like no other book ever has, I’ve still got the marks to prove it.

Was it plot or character driven? Very strong on both.

What did you think of the ending? I was always impressed; most had sneaky little twists at the end.

What was the moral of the story? Respect the law, even if it’s not a written one.

Would you read it again? Definitely.

Have you read other books by the same author? Not yet, but I plan to.

How does the book compare to the film? The film did an amazing job capturing the unique feel of the graphic-novel.

Who would you recommend it to? Anyone who enjoys their crime noir with a dark, gritty edge.
