Monsters University
Describe it in 25 words or less.
Pete: A story about Mike Wazowski and how he made it through college and met some valued friends.
Brigette: The story behind how Mike and Sulley became friends.
Morgan: Monsters Inc. university style.
Gable: How two monsters go from enemies to best friends.
Genre:
Pete: Animated/Family/Disney
Brigette: Animation/Family
Morgan: Family
Gable: Family/Comedy
What did you think of the poster and/or credit art?
Brigette: The opening credits were very cute and the end credits were entertaining as well.
Gable: Very creative.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Pete: Don because I could relate to him the most.
Brigette: Art because he was very open and honest and comfortable with himself.
Morgan: Probably Mike because he tried his hardest to accomplish his dream.
Gable: Mike because he never gave up and he hardly cared what people said bad about him.
Who was your least favorite character and why?
Pete: Johnny because he was so arrogant.
Brigette: Johnny Worthington III because he was a cocky jerk.
Morgan: Probably Mrs. Hardscrabble because she was kind of creepy (and a little harsh, too).
Gable: Claire Wheeler (girl President of Greek Council) because she sounded too bored.
Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while?
Pete: It immediately got my attention, however the ride was not as exciting as I expected.
Brigette: It was immediately entertaining and I was surprised at how much it held my attention throughout.
Morgan: It took a little while for me to really get into it but as the film progressed, I kind of got into it a little more.
Gable: At first, I thought it was super lame. But if you wait about halfway through, it gets exciting.
Favorite quote:
Pete:
Johnny: “Enjoy the attention while it lasts, boys. After you lose, no one will remember you.”
Mike Wazowski: “Maybe. But when you lose, no one will let you forget it.”
Gable: “Don’t worry about anyone else. Just go out there and show them what Mike Wazowski can do.” – Sullivan
How was the soundtrack?
Brigette: The score is typical Randy Newman and you can listen to on YouTube here. There are a couple of songs that don’t appear on the soundtrack but are in the film:
Island by Mastodon
Gospel by MarchFourth Marching Band
And there’s the one song that does appear on the soundtrack:
Roar by Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia
Is it part of a series and have you seen the rest of the series?
Brigette: We have seen Monsters Inc. a long time ago and I think the girls probably don’t remember it. I thought the concept of this film was really lame, but in the end, I think it may have had an even better premise than the first one.
How was the ending?
Pete: Heart-warming and slightly unexpected.
Brigette: Uplifting.
Morgan: Pretty good.
Gable: Happy and kind of touching.
What was the moral of the story?
Pete: To achieve your dreams you must think “outside the box”.
Brigette: Persistence pays off.
Morgan: Believe in yourself.
Gable: Even if at first your dream seems impossible, keep trying because giving up may make you miss out on some great things.
Who would you recommend it to?
Pete: Anyone who has a dream that they think might be unobtainable.
Brigette: Anyone who has ever felt like giving up.
Morgan: Anybody who has been to university.
Gable: Kids who believe in monsters under the bed and people who are thinking about giving up their biggest dream.
