Describe it in 25 words or less.

Pete: Theodore finds love from a new operating system after separating from his wife.

Brigette: A man falls in love with his computer operating system.

Any particular reason for choosing this film?

Pete: I was always very interested in the premise.

Brigette: It was the most intriguing premise for a film I’d seen in a long time.

Genre:

Pete: Science Fiction

Brigette: Sci-Fi/Drama

Who was your favorite character and why?

Pete: Paul because he was probably the happiest person in the film.

Brigette: Amy because she was the character who was the most genuinely human.

Who was your least favorite character and why?

Pete: SexyKitten; she just weirded me out and then made me feel very sad.

Brigette: Samantha because she was incredibly selfish.

How was the casting?

Pete: Excellent; all the characters were very believable.

Did it grab you immediately or did it take a while?

Pete: It got my attention fairly early but I found the film to be slightly disturbing and unsettling.

Brigette: I had an almost immediate visceral reaction to it.

Favorite quote:

Pete: “Are these feelings even real!? Or are they just programming?” -Samantha

Brigette: “The past is just a story we tell ourselves.” – Samantha

What would you change?

Brigette: The length. It felt tortuously long to me in parts.

How was the soundtrack?

Brigette: Very well suited to the film. We’ve put as much of the music from the film that we could find here on YouTube.

Have you watched other films by the same director/actor?

Brigette: I’ve seen all of Spike Jonze’s films with my favorite being Where The Wild Things Are. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan, but the films are always intriguing and thought-provoking.

How was the ending?

Pete: Not entirely what I expected, a little melancholy, but I enjoyed it.

Brigette: I’d say it was probably pretty realistic.

What was the moral of the story?

Pete: Loneliness is one of the few things that humans can all share.

Brigette: There is no substitute for human contact.

Who would you recommend it to?

Pete: Anyone who has ever been addicted to something or anyone who has suffered from loneliness.

Brigette: People who spend too much time in front of a screen and too little time with actual people.

Craft/Activity: Shop the Her collection for those high-waisted pants.
